Oldschool shooters, how I miss them...

These days first person shooters are all about "modern times". A new CoD is baked every year (and if you live under a rock, or have a taste in shooters, Amazon have leaked that a new CoD will be Black Ops 2. Yay /sarcasm.), and even more "modern" shooter are made. And when you open up Inside Gaming, or whatever service that has some gaming news webpage, and look up for any news about a new Quake or Unreal Tournament game, the small bit of hope in your face dies, and the only thing you see is a new DLC for CoD (back in my days, we called them "updates"). Althouh there are some arena/action/oldschool shooters than is still popular, like Quake1/2/3/4, Unreal Tournament, OpenArena, WoP, Xonotic etc. etc., and "new" games are coming out, like Nexuiz (the one build on CryEngine 3, and is originaly made for Xbox, but will come out for PS3 and PC later.) but all those shooters have same, maybe a bit different from others, elements, same weapons, same mechanics, same powerups and so on.
So, lets pretend that a new /arena/action/oldschool shooter is WIP. What new elements you would like to see? Something that wouldnt make it another Quake, Unreal clone, but still an arena/action/oldschool shooter.

also to mention: Tribes: Ascend, Firefall and to a certain degree, Resistance 3... nice old-schoolier games.
And about COD... they only release a stand-alone expansion every year...
So, I'am going to my old Pentium III powered PC and play some Serious Sam TFE on minimum settings.
(Actually I'm going to reboot my Mac into Bootcamp and play SS-TFE-HD)

Dunno if it is as good as the original nexuiz because there are rainbows n stuff that make me worrie but it is an old school like shooter.
LMAO you are worried about rainbows ?
nyaynaynayanyanyanaayayaanaaaananayuyynyaaan
whatever
but i doubt nexiuz is "hardcore" or much "oldschool"
its interesting and i might be buying it, depending how it plays with pad.
but their "mutator killstreak" rewarding system sounds realy cool !
