Right now you have to start the updater in order to update UrbanTerror. It's better than before when you had to download the update from the site but why not make it even better. Minecraft solved this problem with people not updating it by making a launcher that first searched for updates from the server and if it was up to date, it started the game. That way every player (at least those who chose it) had always the latest version of the game and security updates.

This probably wouldn't be feasible. Servers wouldn't necessarily have the updates yet, so if you got updated automatically that way, you wouldn't be able to join any servers.

Well you could send out the update with an warning that servers may run on the old version. You could also have a option to step back a version. It works for Minecraft so it should work in Urban Terror.
