If I run the updater (with admin rights) it says "Urban terror is up to date - Version 4.2.002"
and when I run the game, I get "Game outdated, please run updater in same directory as game to update it"

updater is in the game folder where the exe is. no worries there.

has any one else had/have the same prob? any ideas or fixes?

I am running win 7 64 Pro

Did you install the 4.2 version in a fresh directory?

Have you tried to re-download the game instead of simply upgrading from 4.2.001 version ? (That's personally what I did).

why install again?

The game worked three nights ago running on 4.2.002

only thing different my end is the fact I have removed my titanium sound card and 450gts vid card

Try deleting the zUrt42 pk3 file with the highest number and the executable (Quake3-UrT.exe)
