I tried out Urban Terror over a year ago but the game wasn't for me. Now I am trying to delete the files from my system but Windows Explorer crashes if I try to delete or rename servercache.dat (on Vista). Attempting to delete the file from the cmd prompt also results in a hang.

Malwarebytes does not indicate any malware on my system, neither does AVG. Does Urban Terror start a process that locks this file, and if so how do I kill the process?

no locks are placed on the servercache.dat file, I have seen those symptoms before when the file was located on a bad sector of a hard drive. Perhaps run a Hard drive diagnostic tool like windows CHKDSK and see if that resolves the hangs. Although I prefer SpinRite as it usually provides far better results.
