Do you have a mouse where you could lower the dpi a tad and then bump your sensitivity up to 1 or so? You could calculate the exact sensitivity you'd need for a dpi of say 4000 versus your current dpi using a proportionality problem.

You must have a high dpi setting on your mouse. I am using sensitivity 0.50 on 3500dpi (no problems btw), and that takes me to nearly the edges of a 48cm mousepad... was using about 0.90 on 4.1.1 with the mitsu build.

EDIT sorry didn't notice that this was in Mac support section...

sensitivity value is 5 times lower from mitsu to 4.2
But it feels the same. Only value is lower .
I also have 3500dpi setting. And value is very low.
But what matters is i am playing it with similar experience.

i am using a steelseries kinzu blabla mouse .. no software for osx... but a button that allows to switch between two pre-defined dpi settings .. one low one high ...

since i was able to use my mouse in 4.1.1. with 0,59 sens .. i figured 4.2 should be capable of doing what 4.1.1. did... but maybe i am wrong ...

Karl can you check if you use the same input method in 4.2 and 4.1.1

in_mouse -1
in_mouse 1

(3rd party client with raw mouse support: in_mouse 2 or in_rawmouse 1 not supported with current 4.2 build)

in_restart or game restart needed to accept the new settings.

in_mouse -1 ... says my config.. which is strange since i started 4.2 without my old config, so 4.2 could create a new config ..after that i didn't touch in_mouse, since i don't know jack about the meaning of this line :)

a few hours later:

so i deleted urt... and got rid of my library files as well ... downloaded urt 4.2 again ..installed again... and after that urt seems to be able to handle values below 1 ..

still a mystery to me ...

Isn't in_mouse -1/1 used in windows to determine directInput mouse or plain windows cursor tracking mode ...

what would it do on a mac ?

The only gripe I have at the moment is that my usb overdrive doesn't detect the urt 4.2 executable to set the mouse to my settings for quake, namely max speed and no operating system acceleration. Other than that it feels exactly the same when setting overdrive manually. I use 5700 dpi btw (logi G500 or razer lachesis, doesn't matter much)

In my experience it seems that sensitivity changes has less effect when values decreases below 0.5 and mouse behaviour is not constant.

I had sens 0.33 (and cl_mouseaccel 0.013) with 5600dpi and 1000Hz polling, but i decided to reduce polling to 500Hz (also less charge for the CPU) and increase sens to 0.7 and cl_mouseaccel to 0.3
mouse movement are more fluid and accurate.

I looked through the source code to figure that one out a while ago. Apparantly, all that happens is that your viewing angle in-game is changed per 'amount' of mouse input which is calculated by 'pixels moved' x sensitivity and then if you moved it 'far enough', the acceleration is used as a power function. and multiplied with the pixels X sens thing. Finally it's all multiplied with the m_pitch and m_yaw, so tweaking those won't have much effect. Their only purpose is to set X and Y sens separately.

Considering any mouse movement the game renders is where it is finally positioned before each frame drawn, using 1000 or 500 Hz won't do squat when playing at 60 fps which is still only half of 'regular' mouse polling speed.

I also noticed there is a in_disablemacosxmouseaccel which when set to 1 will use the mouse input device directly instead of letting OS X handle it and add its famed 'dirty' acceleration.
