So upon launching my new 4.2.010 server, I noticed that two scripts I had been using, no longer work. They still work fine in 4.1, and they are not being restricted by flood protect.

Any idea what changed? Or what I did wrong?

At first I suspected stricter parsing (requiring quotes around “vstr <alias>”), but when testing, both these scripts worked fine, no changes needed. Tried on local server (dedicated and not) and on a random Internet server.

Try debugging it:

bind z "vstr Name1; ut_echo ^1shouldn't names work?"
bind k "vstr Color1; ut_echo ^1shouldn't colors work?"

Will the echoes show up? Also, type /bind z and /bind k in the console to see what’s actually bound to these keys — maybe something else is interfering?

Or, I don’t know, is the file with these scripts actually being executed? You might have forgotten to add a line in your autoexec for all I know.

Update: I forgot to remove your config from my autoexec, and after running .011 for the first time, I found error messages in the console:

^3Can't use keys or values with a ';': color2 = cg_rgb 3,3,3 ; bind k vstr Color3
^3Can't use keys or values with a ';': color1 = cg_rgb 248,248,255 ; bind k vstr Color2

Both the color and the name script still work just fine though.
