My Urtupdater would just stop and not do a single thing when it's "contacting urbanterror.info for updater data". Nothing would happen, for hours, even a day.

I have a windows 8 computer, and everything other game I've played works fine. I've played this game on my mac too, which I'm trying to make into a server-box for minecraft, so I'm moving to this computer.

Is it because I have windows 8, or is UrtUpdater updater just being a poop?

Please respond ASAP, thanks a lot.

Well, I tried that, I clicked on quake 3 - urt, and it just doesn't respond. I tried the updater there, no progress. So, still doesn't work.

Edit: Okay, I looked around and I found that in the app folder for quake 3 - urt, it has a MacOs...so, did they give me the wrong thing?

No, the full ZIP (as well as the installation downloaded by the updater) contains binaries for every operating system — these would be the only difference between versions for different platforms, so there’s no point in preparing three installations for the sake of shaving off a few megabytes from the download.

So...I can't play Urban Terror....great.

What if the problem was windows 8? Are there any Windows 8 players?

Edit:K, I tried throwing the folder away with everything i have in it. Then it says this action can't be completed because a program or file is still running. I try to stop it using Task Manager, but then it doesn't stop. So thanks Urban Terror for fkn my computer in the ass. *@!# you.

I'm using Windows 8 Professional and it's working like a charm. From what you describe, I'd say the problem is on your side and not affiliated with Urban Terror. It's not Urban Terror's fault if your computer does not work the way it should.

Try to figure out what program blocks your actions on the folder, make sure you're running the game or the updater in administrator mode or that it has writing rights on the game folders.
