Audio Distorted on New PowerBook. Rate Topic: -----

I just bought a new PowerBook (15", 1.67GHZ) and installed Quake3 & Urban Terror again. I tried both reinstalling fresh, and a drag install from my old PowerBook, and each time the audio in both Quake 3 and in Urban terror is distorted - It sounds sped up, like chicmunk voices or something...

I tried copying the install from my PowerBook to another PowerBook in the house (an older model) and the other machine sounds fine... When I play other games the sound is fine -

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Thanks!

Yeah this was posted before, but it got deleted on the last server hiccup.

Go to your "Audio Midi Setup" located in Applications/Utilities folder.
Your sound output is most likely on 48000 hz instead of 44100 hz.

So choose "properties for: Built in audio"

Source is probably headphones im guessing

Now put your "audio output" to 44100 hz

AWESOME.... that was it... I wonder if this is something unique to the new PowerBooks or if it somehow just got changed to 48000. Thanks again -that fixxed it!

For me it mostly happens when I play none-quicktime video files with either VLC or mplayer. And occasionally when I've been jumping a lot between Final Cut, After Effects and Quicktime Player.

cheers
