Alright, I've got a question about FPS and the possibility of it capping with certain hardware at certain settings. I've been playing UrT for years and only recently have I upgraded my hardware to support my other gaming interests and I've now encountered a rather strange "issue" with UrbanTerror.

Hardware:

AMD FX 4100 Quad-Core 3.60GHz
8.00 GB G.SKILL 2133 MHz
650 Watt PSU
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
nVidia GTX 650 1GB GDDR5
Dell 18.5'' 75Hz refresh max res 1440x900

When I had the GT 210 in my machine, I maxed UrT's settings and ran at 126 constant, but now that I've upgraded my card to the 650 I can max the settings and only run at 60-75 fps constant. I've read a bit online about some games capping frame rates. Is that what's occurring here?

And in addition to that, make sure you leave vsync or sync to vblank option for your nvidia driver set to 'off' or 'application preference' or the r_swapinterval 0 won't do anything useful.

Oh ok. I tried those and it didn't really make a difference, so I turned vsync off in game and it took my fps to 125-128. vsync caused it, but I don't understand why.

V-sync caps the frame rate to your monitor refresh rate to prevent tearing thats how it works. :-)
