Have just discover two videos showing Quake3 with awesome shadows and sun rays on the ioquake3 engine.
Just wondering if that maybe also possible to implement at Urban Terror 4.2?

If so that would be awesome....

Until you get an answer, and independently of if it's going to be implemented anytime soon, you can still play around with those effects on 4.1.1.

If you don't want to compile your own executable, ioquake hosts recent test builds, whereas the documentation for the new renderer can be found on their github.

It looks like com_standalone isn't working as intended though (at least for me it doesn't :P), so you might need pak0-8 from Q3A to get it running. Also, as of now, the more interesting eye candy stuff seems to be cheat protected.
