I think it would be cool to have a crosshair that has maybe 2 different colours in it. I have been using cyan lately, but when aiming at people with sky as background, it just disappears. I have found most other "non-natural" colours (Magenta, green, yellow, red) Don't show up on dark/light surfaces and are hard to see when moving quickly.

Maybe if there could be some way to combine two different colours into one crosshair (Black/white, cyan/magenta) so that it shows on every background)

I want a crosshair:

three pixels by 3 pixels, 2 colors.

[o][o][o]
[x][o][x]

Maybe even 2 by 2

Why not add something that lets you import costum crosshairs into the game? Like a button in the options and you select a file, boom you got a new costum made crosshair made by someone in the community.

I want this.

...I wonder if allowing users to place a bitmap in the viewport would make for any kind of "cheats" though...

In the actual state of things, yes and no: You wouldn't be flagged as a cheater, but you wouldn't be allowed to join servers (all the servers or only those with sv_pure 1 I don't know)

PS: There is a command to customize the crosshair's color. cg_crosshairrgb I think. There is also one for when you are aiming at friendlies.

Yeah i've tried a bunch of rgbs and I always go back to cyan...

I doubt having a custom crosshair could result in any sort of cheating...

Another thing that could happen is a dynamic crosshair.

One that changes from black-white depending on the background it is on, so if you aim at a dark place, it will be fully white, but if you aim it at a dark place it will be white. If you aim it at half dark and half light, it will be split white/black. This will probably take some work to implement though.

I think the dynamic crosshair is in minecraft but I haven't played that in a long time.

I doubt the actual engine is able to do that, sorry.
You'll have to wait and hope for the HD/else
