I couldn't seem to find anything useful in Search, so I apologize if this has been answered already, but...

When I try to play URT4.2 on my computer running Windows 8.1, it sometimes runs flawlessly, but most of the time I end up with the computer hung up. No inputs work, whatever sound is playing loops, and the screen is frozen. I have to force the computer off and then reboot. Does anyone know why? Even URT4.1.1 is doing this. When the computer was running Windows 8, URT was perfect. I'd get great framerates and overall excellent gameplay. Unfortunately, reverting to Windows 8 won't be an option.

I have a Dell XPS 12 with the Haswell i7-4500U processor, integrated Intel HD Graphics, and 8GB of RAM. (don't know if any of this is relevant). As far as I know (and what the onboard diagnostics think), all the hardware appears to be running just fine. I never have crashing problems or bugs when using anything other than URT.

Does anyone know what steps I might want to take from here? Thanks!

P.S. on reboot, the computer acts totally normal as if nothing happened. No error codes, no indications...

Could you run it in XP compatibility mode?

Well another issue I could think of / what has happened to me. That I had issues with the game due outdated graphic card drivers / a graphic card driver that wasn't 100% compatible with win 8.1. Maybe should try to re-install the graphic cards driver and make sure that's for win 8.1.

I get this too, but it usually fixes itself and the game resumes before I timeout from the server. Only rarely does it continue 'forever' and I have to do a hard reset. I've also noticed that when it happens if I try to do a lot of frustrated clicking and keyboard mashing, the game will definitely crash. If I just leave it alone for 10-30 seconds (sometimes a bit longer), it usually resumes just fine.

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a MacBook Pro that only has drivers from Apple for Windows 7, so I have to expect problems, but it seems likely that bad drivers are the problem.

DON'T upgrade to 8.1 until they fix it. Right now 8.1 is bugged and broke my comp twice, (had to factory reset 2 times). Just stick with windows 8, it works just fine.
