You added # in front of the lines. Remove them.

Copy and paste this into your file:

#!/bin/bash
xgamma -gamma 1.6
./Quake3-UrT.x86_64
xgamma -gamma 1

Only the first line HAS to have the #. :)

If this is not working try this:

#!/bin/bash
xgamma -gamma 1.6
./Quake3-UrT.i386
xgamma -gamma 1

If this is not working either please open a terminal and go to your folder where the game is located.
Then type

./UrT_start.sh

You might get an error. Please post this here so we can see what's wrong. :)

If it says it doesn't know UrT_start.sh make sure you are in the correct directory and that the file is executable.
Anything else just post it here.

I use the same script so don't give up I know that it works but it has to be setup correctly. :)

Still no go. Sorry.

What it means?
Game not starting?
Brightness?
Did you write correct Quake3-UrT.i386 location to your .sh file?

The game now starts up with this file, brightness does not change.

So I edited the gamma value to 2.5.

Restarted the game and it now is working and screen is brighter.

Everything is working great now.

Thank You very much ZYZZ

Happy shooting

I used to have an Nvidia GTX560Ti using the proprietary driver. I played on a CRT using a resolution of 1600x1200 at 85Hz. With all settings maxed, and something like 16X AA, my frame rates were always pinned to 125FPS. Even with lots of action and lots of smoke.

Now Im on a Radeon 6870 using the free driver, on an LCD using a resolution of 1600x1200 at 60Hz. All settings maxed and like 4X AA performance leaves a bit to be desired. Depending on the map and how much smoke or players, my average frame rates are anywhere from 50 to 100.

Dont get an AMD for Linux. I tryed it with tf2 and on windows i get around 200 stable. On Linux i was at about 50 very inconsistent. The drivers just are shit for amd on linux.

Thats a huge generalization. You dont mention what GPU youre using, and you assume it must apply to all AMD GPUs? Thats simply not how it works
