amd 3500+
1.5 gb geil memory
fx5200
logisys psu 550w (new)
seagate 300gb hdd
asus a8v mobo
---------------------
My problem is that my computer won't boot. I had a bad storm about a week ago and lighting struck my house. I heard a buzzing noise from my speakers after so I shut down my comp and it wouldn't boot anymore. I bought a new psu and as long as I don't connect the atx12v connector everything will turn on but no picture on the screen.the buzzing noise isn't heard anymore btw. It will not turn on if the atx12v is connected. I tried with the hdd and my dvd drive and all fans besides cpu fan disconnected, cpu fan works fine btw. No capacitors are blown, and i tried a different video card that works.
I think the atx12v on the mobo is messed, but before I buy a new one I want your opinions.

You're talking the 4pin connector right?
Yeah, if your new power supply doesn't work, there is a good chance your mobo is shot. I don't mean to sound like an ass, but you may want to think about getting a surge protector.
Do you have another system you can test the parts in? Might be a good idea to test the RAM and whatever else you can transfer.
