[OK, problem resolved]
it has come back.  :|

hello,

I just finished installing urban terror on ubuntu dapper.
I launched it a first time and connect to a server ; then my comp freezes. I couldn't do anything else than rebooting...
2d time : connected to a game, fine.  While waiting for spawning, it suddenly came back to the desktop and closed UTerror.
3d time : I can't now even start the game.  It gets black for several seconds then back to desktop.

Dunno if it will matter anything, but can you try starting with +set ttycon 0 ? :o And maybe with +set developer 1. Maybe we get some more info then.

Is that a stock config?  I used to get weird errors like that before I knew r_smp was only for Intel and wasn't useful with today's machines anyway.

if nothing helps try another install of nvidia drivers too.

I think your problem is caused by improper /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname setup.

What do the commands
grep -i -e 127.0 -e coq-desktop /etc/hosts
cat /etc/hostname
hostname
hostname -i
give?

Thanks to everybody for your answers.  :wink:

But it's useless now : dunoow why, the game works again.  :-D
I did nothing (switch on/off for the night), and it launches without any problem.
So I can't even explain how it got fixed, sorry.  :-o

Really, I appreciate your efforts anyway !  Thx again.

Maybe see you another time.  :wink:

edit:  precision : I can play perfectly.
(My drivers nvidia were already installed)

When starting the game. In a termina go to urbanterror dir and type ./ioUrbanterror.386 +set ttycon 0 +set developer 1. But if it's fixed, it's not needed :)

I have just reinstalled the video drivers (nvidia).
