No console on Linux? Rate Topic: -----

Hi guys a got a problem :)
u used the search vefore of course but couldnt find a solution.
So we installed ioUrt on a debian system and start it per dblclick but cant reach the console, no way.tried to bind it to another key and with a ink added -console and +set fs_game q3ut4 but nothing worked...
please heeelp :D

I had this on my debian system here. It doesn't accept the normal key but you really need to press ~ which on my azerty keyboard involves a somewhat awkward alt-gr ~ key combination but the console eventually worked like this.

I experienced the same when I moved to Linux.

Currently I'm using Ubuntu and the console key is near the ENTER instead of bellow ESC as in M$win. However in ioq I found that I need to press the key harder than in Q3, sometimes two times to get the console to appear (QWERTY-PT keyboard)...

for me key 1 has the ~ which can be reached as alt-gr + 1

i use this to get a working console with german keyboard layout:
#! /bin/sh
xmodmap -e "keycode 49 = 0x60"
./ioUrbanTerror.i386 $*
xmodmap -e "keycode 49 = 0x5e"

shift + escape should always work, no matter what lay-out :o

IIRC this is an SDL issue that they mention on the site.
