Sound + game freezes constantly, but just for 2 seconds

I'm a very new linux user, just installed everything and i'm very impressed, with ubuntu and urban terror, 125 fps all the time... unless it freezes. I have searched for an answer in here, and google, but came up sort of empty, so, what is the problem? It is because i don have a OSS suportive sound board (its a onboard soundblaster, very old) ?

No need for help, found the problem, its aMSN, trying to use the sound alarms each time someone gets online, and somehow that interfered with UrT! Thanks anyway man!

BTW, try Kopete instead of aMSN. That beast knows a lot more and it's just plain better.
