I have the code right here, and I can tell you it's actually a simple matter of removing a couple lines...

void update_team_overlay ( )
{
    if ( rand() % 4 != 0 ) {
        // ignore update 3 out of 4 times, team-overlay is ghey!!1!eleven
        return;
    }

    ...
}

I'd rather not have to even move my eyes let alone hit tab, I'm looking at the dead guy already! I sorta wish they made it so the dead model has the funstuff still on but I can understand why thats not in there.
