everytime i join a server for the first couple of minutes i get lag and an unstable ping that will go anywhere from 0 to 150, whenever it hits 0 i get a stuter, its annoying cause sometime it will last like 5 minutes then after a while it will just leave and ill get my average 50 ping
i have a picture of the netgraph while its happening if thats any help, too bad u cant upload it to the forum

You can put the pic on an FTP and link it... But anywayz... It sounds like antiwarp is doing it to you.
Punkbuster is always doing lots of stuff when you have just connected to a server and that could badly influence you connex and then antiwarp comes in

Your punkbuster related cvars may be configured incorrectly.. Or maybe your computer is just a lot slower then everyone elses. What are your system specs?
I do have issues when first in a server.. But they are no where as severe as yours. Same symtoms, different degree.

p4 1.5ghz
348 mb ram
128mb geforce fx 5200
cable internet connection
10mbit down/1mbit up
i play ut2k3 and the game runs smoother than urban terror
its ut2k3 is a much much much more demanding game
i just get lag for a couple minutes then it runs pretty smooth
i used to have my settings all high and resolution at 1280x1024
now here on low/medium 800x600 even though it dosent affect the problem [/b]

Drop your console and do the following....
/pb_sleep 500
/pb_writecfg
Do that once, your problem will be solved forever.

I have just the same problem, which of course started with punkbuster.
I have set the sleep value to 500 and system to "1", it did help some, but I still get the lag.
It even lags my game when I play alone with bots, just for the fun of it.
I never had the problem before, it started when I installed pb.
Is there anything else I could do about this? (except for finding a server which still does not run pb )

oh, by the way, waiting does not help.
you need to be in the game for all the loading or whatever it does to stop, being spectator somehow does not do the trick. I kinda don't like shooting at someone who's already passed me a headshot and isn't there anymore
