Hi, I just discovered that mumble (mumble.sf.net) has support for directional audio. Have you thought about supporting the link-plugin?

Seems to be easy to implement, and could lead to a better gameplay (even tough, it's of course unrealistic).

Ah, so implementing this would let mumble (voice chat application) know what your position in the game is and what direction you're looking at. If this also known for other mumble users, mumble will make their voice-chats come from the right direction for you. Pretty Nice. I'll suggest this to the ioquake3 people.

A day of Urban Terror with Mumble direction audio support:
<player1> Please heal me
* player2 runs away
* player1 runs after player2
<player1> Please heal me
<player2> no, go away
* player2 runs away from player1
* player1 pursue player2 screaming "HEAL ME!!!"
* player2 ear just went deaf
<player1> Please heal me
* player2 runs away
* player1 runs after player2
<player1> Please heal me
<player2> no, go away
* player2 runs away from player1
* player1 pursue player2 screaming "HEAL ME!!!"
* player2 ear just went deaf

Nothing a headshot won't solve.
*player2 whips out his DE blows of player1's head
blissful silence = result
