Hi everybody, I'm having a problem in UT 4.1.1 with server creation
(actually, with server termination).

If I set timelimit and then start a non-dedicated server, and then I
quit to main menu, it seems like that the timelimit remains recorded
and after about one minute a new map is automatically loaded and the
server restarted.

I want to cycle through maps staying only 1 minute on each map,
in order to have an idea of what they look like. I'm organizing a
little LAN party tomorrow and I want to choose the more appropriate
maps for just maybe 4-6 people. Oh, and any suggestion on the map
cycle is welcome! Thank you for your help and suggestions :-) Dario

starting a non-dedicated server starts the server for the time you are connected, once dissconnected the server is actually offline aswell.

most-likely your settings are being saved to your q3config.cfg so starting a new non-dedicated server would also keep the settings( load them from the q3config.cfg) if you want to use new settings you would have to review what it says in the setup screen for the new non-dedicated server screen.
if changing the value in that screen does not work then i would suggest checking the settings in the config file or trying to use a dedicated lan server and a server.cfg with the settings you want

Why don't you just open your urt game client and open the console and /devmap ut4_mapname . That way you can take your time and view the map and then change the map when you're ready.

Kevlar in CTF is like sex with a condom. Sure you get the general feel of things, but everyone would enjoy the game without it.

Thank you for your answers. I think I didn't explain it
very clearly. The problem occurs if I start a non-dedicated
server with time limit 1 minute, and then I quit to main
menu. After 1 minute of being in the main menu, UT will
load a map, spawn my player and show the gear selection
screen. This is exactly what happens when a game is running
and the time limit is hit. The difference is that aparently
no game is running, because I am the server and I am in
the main menu.

Why after 1 minute of main menu UT loads a map?

UPDATE: If instead of quitting to main menu I use the
command \killserver the described behavior does not happen.
That is, if I \killserver UT goes back to main menu and
stays there.

This means that when you are running a non-dedicated server
and you quit to main menu (using the GUI) the server is not
really shut down; it remains active and after the time limit
is hit another map is loaded.

where are you setting timelimit?

start the server with + exec server.cfg and set the timelimit there

Thank you for your feedback! I just reposted in the bugs forum.

Sorry it took a few days, I was quite busy this week.

And we didn't do the lan party in the end :-( Oh well, maybe
next time. Bye ;-)
