Hey Guys
Just wondering if I could use music I own in my URT movie. I have an extensive record collection with all kinds of titles. ACDC, Guns & Roses etc. Is there a problem with adding this kind of music to a movie if it just stays on our web site?
Any ideas?

The most common videos with their audio removed, from my experience, are ones with Sony BMG music. Then again, I rarely see videos where the audio has been removed when the music was referenced in the credits.

You don't own the copyright to the music, aka you don't have any rights to distribute the music, so legally speaking the answer is no
unless the music allows it.

There are some bands that release their music under Creative Commons license, giving the user/listener several rights depending on that specific license.
In most cases music realeased under the CC license allows the user to remix it or use it with other media as long they don't earn money with it, however this you may want to check out for yourself to make sure.
One band that comes into my mind is:
Nine inch Nails,
they released there last 2 works, "The Slip" "Ghost I-IV" under CC license
Also the Copyright ends 70 years after the author has died (at least in the EU), so you are allowed to use most classical music that fall into that category.

Thanks everyone. The actual video is Ginormous. I put a smaller version on our website, but even that takes forever to load. Just thought it would be cool to make something. Never put an ending on it. Kind of a play on our clan consisting of a bunch of old folks over thirty.
You can see it, if you have the patience. You can't download it, it plays in a browser. Go to http://30plus.org and click on Misc on the left, then you can click on Lt Striker Movie. It will start to load. When it gets to 10% the video will start to play but I suggest that you hit pause and go for a coffee, beer, piza, wash the car, walk the dog or whatever you can do for at least a half hour while it caches, then drag it back and hit Play. Downloads faster for some, depends on your location I guess.
