The source code of Ram

@Rambetter I've read somewhere about an alternative patch already implemented in the ioquake trunk?

thats perfectly normal its warning you that someone is attempting the attack but the server is not responding to it.
this is currently the best case scenario as you currently cannot stop someone sending packets to you, but you can stop responding to them.

the hitch warning is more likely to be the cause of your lag however since you are using a VPS then you should be expecting hitch warnings since you are sharing resources with others.

you cannot do anything about the bandwitdh coming INTO your network, but you can stop YOUR server from REPLYING which will LOWER the amount of bandwidth, this is why we warn people not to cheapskate on servers like homeservers and VPS. Most of the people worried about this issue are those with home/vps solutions. Bandwidth isn't an issue for dedicated solutions as usually they get terabytes of bandwidth per month available to them not a few hundred gigs.

your server is patched and currently that is as good as it gets..

The outgoing traffic was very high rather than Incoming.

Yes, ioquake3 trunk is patched with a "leaky bucket algorithm", which works too. No really big difference.

But my ioquake3-UrT branch is older so it does not have the leaky bucket code.

It depends what region you are in. You would be paying a small fortune every month in Australia to get terabytes of bandwidth for a dedicated box.

yes but renting a game server from a major company such as Hypernia.com would be better solution and you wouldn't need to worry about bandwidth.

think of it like buying a bike to go to work 100 miles away, its far more practical to use a car, more expensive but gets the job done.

a rental game server is on a server optimised for sharing resources for GAMING, VPS servers are typically optimised for webservers and TCP throughput that handle Lots of per virtual server connections.

Nitro there are no game server providers for most parts of asia.
There is just one place in singapore where hypernia is providing but is not ideal.

Vrz is a clan having most people from Hongkong and India.

Singapore is a compromise. (Also hypernia data center is not gr8) We rent our scrim server from their, specifically for matches with australian clans.
Bandwidth in asia is very expensive.
Dedicated servers also dont have unlimited bandwidth here.
A small core 2 duo will give u 1000GB in reputed datacenter/company for 150+$ a month
And for about 330$+ a Quadcore xeon with about 2000GB bw for 336 $ per month.

Also remember that dollar conversion rate means a fortune.

So to sum up Dedicated server is not an option unless on of us is very rich.
Also 95 % people are below 16 / not with job in asian Urt scene.

Why i am specifically answering is because we run in same circle and i know the situation all too well.

So having no gameserver providers and very expensive dedicated server leaves only good VPS as viable option.
