I am experiencing this same problem... a new ati radeon 128 pro shouldn't drop down to 30-40 fps randomly during games for like 30sec-1min increments.
Annoying, but I've still been playing. ET:UT where are you?

Then how do you explain this? To reiterate, I have a P4-2.8C @ 3.5, FX5600 256 mb, 1 GB DDR400, etc.
It is mildly annoying when even 27 agrees there is an issue (not explicitly in this thread but in conversations I have had with him in IRC) and others deny it. Please do not get me wrong, Lt1, I highly respect you and do not wish to antagonize you in any way, but your posts in response to people experiencing this legitimate issue (in this thread and others) have sounded like you are rubbing your personal lack of fps bug in our faces. Furthermore, just because you do not experience it does not mean it fails to exist.
Again, I apologize if I sound harsh, but please keep my words in mind.

What about your com_hunkmegs ? How much ram is in use in the pc before you start urban terror ? How much ram total ? Tried highering the pb_sleep ?
Anyone try this with the virtual memory in windows disabled ? PB scans that too apparently... maybe it's antivirus scanning the pk3 files if you allow it to scan all files or .zip files ?
Never have this problem in linux ever since it was mentioned the first time, weird if it were an urt bug imo.
