Gap in netgraph

Okay, I'm a total noob at this stuff, so bear with me...
I just got a new computer, and here are the specs:
Intel Core i5 CPU 2.67 GHz
nVidia GeForce GTX 275 896MB
4 GB Ram
1 TB HD
Windows 7
DSL 1.38 MB down, .68 MB up
No 3rd party virus protection, firewall or torrent programs running the background.
On different servers with <100 pings, I get a hiccup in gameplay approximately once a minute where things freeze and then reset for about 1/2 second. I will have a significant gap in the green line on my netgraph as well. It doesn't prevent me from playing, but it's definitely annoying.
I'm pretty sure my computer is capable of running the game--my 7 year-old computer running XP never had this problem.
Using the search function, I've seen it suggested that it could be related to my graphics card settings. Any suggestions for some tweaks to get this to run a bit more smoothly? I would really appreciate it!

Isn't that just your connection. Like CONNECTION INTERRUPTED everytime you try to play urt and download elf porn other games
URBAN TERROR IS NOT COD6
AKGRIZZLY: UrT devs slaved over boiling PCs in a crawl space full of rabid monkeys with no food, for no pay all so we could rawk peeps with l337 remington skills
M0usep0d: I got stuck with the slow, heavy, weak, balding model.
ObScUrE: We should start now all to play COD and suggest Sr8, curbstomps, walljumps, jumpmaps...

no, that's (gaps of no-color on lower line of net meter) clearly hangs of the rendering process. it has nothing to do with networking.
try the .exe on my sig. it might go away.
I had this happening with ikalizer + iourbanterror a lot.
to prove the concept, it can be forced if one hits /screenshot a lot, see here net guide.

I don't play any other online games...but when I download stuff, it's typically a stable and consistent connection.

That's exactly what I ran across! Thanks for your suggestion. I will give this a go.
BTW, I lowered my FPS to the minimum in my URT settings, and it seemed to improve things a bit.

sounds like stuttering happens a lot on the new NV card and older opengl games the newest nv drivers have broken OGL support
