outskirts of london have had snow for the last week... for the 2nd time in a month... we are not used to it! (snow doesnt settle in central london due to the nature of the warming factor and high throughfare)
schools have shut down, people locked in, calling 999 to ask for assistance to get bread and milk from the corner shop.

Egads!

Must be all of the 'Global Warming' talk the govt wants to spend money on...

It has actually been called "Global Weather change"  for quite some time now, but i guess global warming sound better to the media. But yes all of this cold is caused by an increase in warmth as the earth retains more heat from the sun due to the various gases in the atmosphere.

It all comes down to the basic principle that warm air rises. As it rises it presses cold air aside, all this causes wind in very simple terms. Changing the wind patterns then changes the weather, warm wind now going to place x instead and cold wind going to y. The winds pushing the clouds around making rain/snow fall in different areas, which causes further weather change...

Europe for example is very dependent on heat from the gulf stream, if it gets cooled down then and the stream changes... Lets just say that the polar bears will get new grounds to play on.

Except "global weather change" is still massively overhyped.

No snow here. Just rain.:/

it's not overhyped, people are only stupid and can't grasp the concept of the elephant and the blind man which is predominant in this issue.

plus the US has most to lose financially by it going public, so naturally it produces most propaganda against it.

http://en.wikipedia....acking_incident

Something which is supposedly as real and inevitable as climate change should speak for itself.

US has nothing to lose. Whether the world goes full tilt toward "green" technology and abandons fossil fuel technology asap, or continues on as is, US companies make a ton of money making products, doing research, etc. Falsifying and hiding data to "not lose money" is utterly retarded, because that would not change reality, and would only delay the inevitable "reveal" which apparently would cripple the US economy. Climate change/global warming is not a new topic except to the general public, so if American corporations are so worried about climate change suddenly clicking in everyone's heads, they would have already begun shifting to "green" products like hydrogen fuel cells and promoting awareness of climate change, except that has only happened very recently when it has become apparent a lot of people believe the exaggerated numbers promoted by Al Gore etc. Corporations will ultimately act in a manner which makes them the most profit, and the public ultimately is influenced by the corporations.

just my opinion, it's not like I'm not an environmentally conscious person irl. I recycle, use the bus, walk, don't buy shit I don't need, am not a fatass who eats 3x too much, etc. I don't like gambling on something as poorly understood as climate change. I know my actions are insignificant in the big picture, but eh at least I know I'm pretty "green" as far as Canadians go (as the furnace fires up...balancing out everything above).

It's quite nice here atm. Suckers in the NE with 2 feet of snow lol.:D

im liking the stronger hurricanes and more extreme winters, its kinda fun. and I love thunder n lighting, so bring the rain on all day long. weather patterns have been different than normal, but no one really knows why this is happening.
