Did you know that if you brought the Sun down to the size of a white blood cell (7 micrometres), and then brought everything else down to scale, our galaxy, the Milky Way, would be the size of the continental U.S.A. ©Tredid.

Unfortunately we haven't perfected teleportation yet, so it's the only way to get to the space station.

Quite interesting actually, how all of those elements in the bottom 2 rows of the periodic table (like amaercanium and californium) have half lives of mere trilliseconds, yet they're still included as elements. I remember hearing somewhere that NASA believes they could be the secret to future space travel.

But yeah, until we can figure that out we're stuck with flying the shuttle up there the same way we are today.

It's not just -6.1 million, it's +millions too for technological advancements. That can be short term, e.g. better satellites that bring cash or longer term for significant technological advances.

An American could argue 'Why would I pay for the world' but there are various agencies now that do the same job with actual missions, e.g. ESA, and b) it's obvious an agency can control its 'first' beneficiaries too.

6 mill? thats all? hahahahaha ur so silly, it costs waaaaaay more than that, that may be raw fuel cost, but trust me if it was only 6mill a launch the shuttle program wouldn't be ending. they have a budget in the BILLIONS/year from the gov, and then several billions more thrown on top by the airforce.

if it was only 6 million a launch, the CITY of melbourne could afford to keep the shuttle program floating indefinitely. we pay more than that to manicure the medians and sides of the roads here. we pay more than that to keep sand on the beach. we pay more than that in tax breaks for business's who renovate their buildings.

lets not even bring up the school/pd/fd/road construction costs, each one of those is WELL over a billion a year(for this county alone)

it truly saddens me to see such a lack of interest in the space program. Americans have no ballz anymore, what happened to "the space race?" Guess we're just gonna keel over and let everyone else take the lead, and that won't take long. We have already lost the enormous lead we once had.

Leading is so.. 20th century. Now it's the age of Aquarius; of big international organizations and cooperation with no centralized government but that will eventually lead - after 700-800 years to disillusion of people with governance due to the absence of the personal element; but it would have made enormous contributions to society by stopping slaughterhouses wars.

Then it's the age of Capricorn a more down to earth and intelligent era but without much individual aggressiveness either.
