My ping is almost always above 300. Most servers i try to join display the message "Server is for low pings only" WHICH appears on most of them when i connect. Anyone got ways to solve this?

1) can you tell us what coutry you are from?
2) in the ingame server browser, did you sort servers by ping, are they all above 300?
3) what kind of connection are you on? are you on a shared network, with other users (probably) using peer to peer programs?
4) is your computer free from background processes using the network?

if you have difficulty finding out this information, do some research and ask around. good luck.

One quick option is to try /reconnect to see if you can hop in the server. I have this problem even with a 60 ping to servers and /reconnect often fixes it.

Also, make sure you have your server list sorted by ping.

ping is usually very close to the hardware and network with the game having very little to do with it; hence it's usually an ISP issue and you take it to them unless you congested your uploading/downloading.

If, it's only apparent in this game, it's a different matter, and interesting one actually (since it's rare and hard to fathom).



A good way to make sure is to see if the pings are also high on something external, e.g. qtracker, they usually are.

'server is for low pings only' feature is a buggy feature by design.

Here's the rationale:

When a network specialist tries to find your "ping" or network latency or whatever in that venue; they don't do one ping or even 3 or 4. They do a whole series of pinging, often at least being complemented with a proper traceroute.

When you have the game trying to do one or a couple of pings and then say "ok your ping is that" it's inherently buggy.

That's why reconnect works; it didn't have the right ping always. Or, on /reconnect it didn't give the right ping. If you need the "right" ping you have to at least do several tests that ought to waste time for a game.


A workaround I use on my .exe is to just auto-/reconnect on 'server is for low pings' at least 3 times *(then give up in case it's a legitimate case).

DARN! Still a server constantly saying "Server is for low pings only". And yes, i tried that thing in the last post-the server i was trying to connect to didnt work. It seems (That server) that i can only connect while it is daytime where the server comes from, as im almost halfway around the globe. Anyways, the sorting by ping...Is high or low server ping good for me?

lower the ping the better (try and play on servers with ping between 30-60)
