It doesn't go with quarters of a second, it goes with divisions of 1000 milliseconds, e.g. it can only do 1000/8=125, 1000/9=111.11 etc.

If one can only do 125-140 in empty or half-empty maps it's perfectly normal to drop to even more than half in action.

What I'm saying is if he's losing frames all at once, it's a lot different then losing the same number of frames evenly distributed over a period of time. The first would be highly noticeable, the second not so much.

since a couple of weeks i got FPS drops too!
with clan wars it's quite annoying!

my pc specs are way overkill for UrT but ok:

CPU: AMD phenom II 1055T six core @ 2.8ghz
GPU: Gigabyte (ati) 6850oc, 1GB GDDR-5..
RAM: 4GB kingston 1333mhz
Windows 7 home premium
Internet connection, 100MB up/down:D!
HDD: 160GB SSD kingston and 1tb WD greenline.

It was working fine when i just installed windows etc at my pc.
but since like a month ago i get fps drops from 126 too 40!!!

Somebody knows what it could be??
it's so annoying at clan wars..

Sorry about the bump but this is giving me the shits

I have the same issue. Urt has played at flawlessly stable fps for as long as I can remember, now suddenly I'm getting terrible fps drops

PC specs:
Intel e6750 @ 2.66ghz
ATI 5770
2gb ram
Win7 x64

I've tried 3 or 4 different graphics drivers, uninstalled windows updates and anti-virus but nothing has worked so far
I even tried an older graphics card (3850) but it made no difference at all

Oh and I tested another q3 based game (Tremulous) and the fps drops were still evident

Hey Dabs :D
I had that problem once and it turned out one of the fans in my case had stopped spinning. The extra heat was making my CPU (UrT is very CPU-bound rather than GPU) work more slowly but without errors.
Other games were working fine since they used the GPU more which wasn't overheating

Well, I don't think this was my problem. I had low FPS even I'd launch UrT some seconds after my PC boots.

Now, I have a new PC I have full FPS with. I still use my old PC to work or so, the fans seem to spin normally.
