What if we view the code as some sort of art ?

Artist creates art => so that means that if the programers/''codedesigners'' stop working for 1 year & the rest waits them , it will be really long waiting for the community ;) . :D

Let's say that the models are the body/the shell & the code is the soul , the 1 cannot be without the other . Bullets cannot hit ghosts :D (let's don't forget that not much people see ''dead people'' ( ghosts ) , that will definetely affect the gameplay :D ) .
Also models are images , which are actually code ...

BTW animation decisions improving gameplay was be made & shown to the community ( examples can be seen in some official videos ).

In our case the programmers added new features and the content creators looks for ways to take advantage of those additions. Adding the MD5 animation system took 4 weeks but has taken close to a year to fully understand it’s full potential.

The addition of Spec and Normal/Parallax bump maps is another feature that is given to the content creators to play with and then figure out how to maximize the effect and limit the use of .shader scripts.

Even if when we decided on new feature additions some one makes it before it’s needed as raw data so the programmer has the necessary assets to add to the code in place and ready to go when they do have some free time.

It’s what we like to call flex development that is geared more towards the time limitations of the team but at the same time there is always something for someone to work on besides their assigned task.

We have 2d concept artists making maps and map objects and leads from one department working and doing some of the heavy lifting in another and anyone is more than welcome to try something new just because they want to.

Yes there is even time to do some silly promo videos.

I understand the waiting (the reasons behind it ; which doesn't mean I am patient , not at all , is not in my nature) .
