server shows between 1 and 5 players in that particular server but upon entering that server, no one is there....
any suggestions?

at first I thought it may be a connection problem but I'm in the burbs of Chicago and it happens with Chicago servers as well...

They are probably using hacked server binaries to lie about the number of players in a server. Something I toyed with years ago but decided against using myself cause its deceptive. Rambetter was the first to actually run a server with such a modification, I'm sure other people figured out what he was doing.

I don't think so, it seems just to be an old variable, cause if you have entered one of this servers and then refresh ServerList again, you can see that there is only 1 User listet (that's you a few seconds ago). I think Value is probably only actualising when player enter server if server crashes or all player leave while Map change, the server show old playernumber. It happend to me on several servers, i will try to see if this is a usual bug to enforce this on pure server binarys.

Just fyi: sv_pure has ZERO effect on a modified server binary, sv_pure ONLY pertains to the checksums of the pk3's not the binary files.
