4.2.011 Stuttering
#1

When this happened to me, I thought maybe I was just imagining it but I've seen a few other people complain about it so I figure I'd throw it on the table.
While playing 4.2.011, the game feels like it's stuttering. Imagine the feeling of going from 125fps down to 50 or 60fps but your FPS is steady and your connection is fine as well. This happens on stock maps so it's not a third party map issue (kingdom, casa, sanc). I've heard everything from it could be sound related to mouse related to just game related - this is coming from players brainstorming, not FS.
Anybody else on here experiencing this? Any suggestions on what I could try to fix it?

AMD Phenom II x 4 965 Black Edition (3.4ghz)
XFX Radeon HD 7750 video card
It's not the most beastly but it should certainly handle URT just fine...
EDIT: Ahhh, Ray pointed out I doubled this thread and there's another thread about this....can someone merge these threads please?

I had this occur to me once.
I tracked it to a set of weak batteries in my wireless mouse. Switched to a wired mouse and problem solved.
Also you might want to check you mouse settings. If you have acceleration turned on this could cause the same problem as it did in Quake 3.

odd, i thought it was just me, but the reason i get this is i'm playing on windowed mode (fullscreen 0) and dual monitor on GTX570- this causes trouble if using multi monitor power saving tool from nvidiainspector (thats kind of a complicated story by itself)... soo the fix was to open the console, drag and move the window or enable/disable power save and it just goes back to smooth again.
But is did not happen on 010 as far i remember, so there mus be something...

Looking into it a bit more it seems that the stutter is a common video driver issue.
Google Nvidia video stutter
Some possible fixes.
http://forums.2kgame...users-read-this!
As a side note there seems to be an issue in Windows 7/Vista relating to the video drive not receiving a response from the video card.
Google Nvidia timeout
http://kyo.kuiki.net/?p=126
The most common fix is to revert to a much older driver.
If you are currently having this problem can you post what operating system, video card, and driver version and I'll look into it a bit deeper.

I had stuttering like this even in 4.1 when I updated Nvidia drivers with a few new cards.
The game would tell me 125FPS, but I know what 45FPS feels like.
Both the GeForce9800 and GTS250 gave me horrible results until I downgraded the drivers.
I am currently on a GTS250 with 306.97 drivers working very well, I don't remember what I downgraded the 9800 to which had the bigger issue.
Nvidia doesn't seem to carry them anymore, but this looks legit:

...and Nvidia's actual page regarding it:

This isn't Nikki's fix, and I doubt Ray needs it either, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use it.
These are all the cards who can use it:
There's been quite a few updates mostly to newly released games in the more recent drivers. You'll want to back them up if you don't just play UrT.

@Frankie please DO NOT recommend the first link, they recommend to enable threaded optimalization, but it should be DISABLED in any case for ioUrT, as it does decrease performance.
i've even recommended to look for it for users having fps drops, as one of nvidia default driver settings causing problems in OpenGL
PS. stuttering/microstuttering is rather an issue known by ATI/AMD users, had suffered for years with HD4850 and did not find any solution, so for UrT (any idtech/OGL in general) nvidia runs better. not always the case but in general i'd say it's true.
