Hi,

My clan have 2 server's, 1 on vps and the other we only have ftp access and web frontend to manage (TCAdmin). We want only allow entry to players authenticated, so on the server.cfg i put this:

set auth_enable "1"
set auth_notoriety "1"

On the vps server, we don't have any problem, work's fine. But on the other server, sometimes the players can't access and the same players reconnect and yes they can (this players they are logged). :(. On the server appears this (this happens too to me, and i can access to other servers withouth any problem):

I don't know what is the problem, assuming that the files md5 are ok. What could be the problem? Could be a problem communicating with the authentication server? I have understood that there is no need to open any additional ports, is this so?

There are another server (other clan, same ip and different port), on the same provider, and they have the same problem. So we think the problem it's about a bad installation, but i don't know what's happens and does not know either the provider.

So we need some help with the provider for find the problem and fix them.

The server it's a linux 64x, we tested the binaries of the two architectures with the same result. We change the notoriety to 0, the player's can play and we see the error of badinfo.

If FS need some, i can talk with the provider for get information.

My provider confirm that checksums files are ok.

They have told me that they might have banned some ip authentication server. So maybe sometimes lets in players usually and sometimes badinfo error appears.

What are the authentication server ips?

We update the server to last version 4.2.012 and we have the same error. The player's sometimes can't enter and sometimes after several reconnects they can :/

My provider confirm they haven't banned urbanterror.info, cdn.urbanterror.info or auth.urbanterror.info (¿other domain or ip?) Any idea?

I see this post http://www.urbanterr...r-linux-server/ and i ask to my provider about port's (27950 and 27952). They have told me they have no restrictions on the firewall to ports. They have banning policy about attacks but i check some domains (urbanterror.info, cdn.urbanterror.info, auth.urbanterror.info) and they don't block this domains or ip's.

Any help with this, please?

we are seeing this too on both a live server and a local test server

I did a bit of digging through the logs, and the badinfo is caused (unsurprisingly) by a seeming partial corruption of the ClientUserInfo message. Whether it's corrupted by the client on sending, or the server on receipt, is unknown.

For example,

good info :

\protocol\68\name\BonzoDog\rate\16000\cg_predictitems\0\snaps\20

bad info :

\protocol\68\name\BonzoDog\rate\16000\cg_predictitee\headmops\20\

Note the corruption of the cg_predictitems field

This corruption (or parse error) is not always on the same field either - the corruption this time was on the rate data field

good info :

\protocol\68\name\BonzoDog\rate\16000\cg_predictitems\0\cl_anonymous\0\

badinfo:

\protocol\68\name\BonzoDog\rate\1600nonymous\0\sex\male\handnonymous\0\
