My fps is still dropping extensively from 125fps. HOWEVER, the stuttering that was associated with the dropping fps before is gone and the game still plays smoothly. But if the fps is dropping that means im missing out on frames.

I ask what changes have you made?

I decided to add this from one of my posts so people just coming in can see this.

This might be a solution, I get solid fps with this build, I happened to overlook this build.

i would set r_dof r_bloom to 0 for testing purposes and you have to disable simpleshaders afaik right now with r_simpleshaders 0 to enable VBO.

VBO offsets some of the load to the gpu in simple terms.

Interesting. I've never had fps problems with 4.2 (or 4.1 for that matter) however, ever since the first few versions of 4.2, i've been suffering from the "stuttering" you speak of. Others i've spoken with suffer a similar issue. It's getting quite impact-full

Unfortunately as p5yc0runn3r said, we really need information in order to resolve these issues. As far as I am concerned support wise, if there is no information given along with a bug report then there is no issue.

If there is a common issue then I would first suggest to back up your current config and use the default one as provided with the 4.2.018 update and test to see if this issue still exists. If it fixes it, then drop us a copy of the old config so we can try and replicate on our own QA systems to see if the bug is reproducible.

fx8320 @ 4ghz
HD 5770 1gb(not overclocked) 4x box msaa 16xAF( removing aa and af does nothing)
8gb ddr3 @ 1866mhz 2GB used by OS 6GB free
win 7 64gb w/500GB sata3(6Gb) hdd w/322GB free

I will test with the cfg you suggest.Tested with no difference.

Many people on the servers are still complaining of fps drops also and I have noticed some stuttering still, only when I get large drops thou usually down to around 80 or below.

Can't you guys offset more of the geometry being rendered by the graphics cards, IDC how fast your cpu is, it's not meant for rendering large amounts of polys.

Below are the specs for the machine I'm still experiencing FPS drops on. The .018 release definitely improved FPS on it--it went from unplayable to annoying. Note that I have another machine that is identical in every way except for that it has an ATI Radeon HD 4850 video card that plays it perfectly even though the ATI card shouldn't be as good as the GeForce 8600GTS. When the 1 machine does experience FPS drops it's always when more people are visible. If I go inside a building or something I get a rock solid 125FPS. In 4.1 both machines maintained a rock solid 125FPS no matter what was going on in the game. I'm happy to try with the default config. What's the easiest way to get a copy of the default config? I would have to at least change my graphics settings to match what I'm running now--1920 X 1080. Also to note--I'm running the identical config on both machines (copied over) with the recommended settings from: http://www.urbanterr...d-sound-system/

OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.30 GHZ
GPU: NVidia GeForce 8600 GTS
Motherboard: MSI 890FXA-GD65
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 at 1600 mhz
HD: 120 GB SSD

^Afaik the 4850 is 2 or 3 times faster than the geforce GTS

But urt is very CPU dependant anyway

Yeah you're right--I looked up specs and the ATI 4850 is a little more stout of a card. It's still strange though that the GeForce 8600GTS ran 4.1 at a rock solid 125 FPS no matter what and now really struggles with more than a few players present. I'd understand if there were some major graphics updates or an engine change...but there's not.
