Considering these colours can only be used since the 4.2 versions I assumed it is a feature.I guess if the colours are displayed then their values are to be found somewhere in the code. But the use of these special characters doesn't really seem natural, It would have been somehow easier to understand if you could only get them through something like hex values (the way Excessive+ does it: e.g. ^xFF821Dl for a specific hue of orange). It'd look fairly uglier to type in tho.

I vote for blue. Can't be red/orange, can't be green, can't be violet; those mean too much for the purpose.
Besides, the meaning of colors is a very interesting subject. Teacher would always tell me to go grab Color and Meaning by John Gage, if you are interested... I always wanted to find a .pdf of it, never could :(
