Selling your models on the marketplace can be a nice way to get cash for the project (:
You bet and better than having a bake sale.
Something to consider though is it's not only a good option for us but for everyone else who wises to become involved in contributing to the project in the same manner as we are giving away a free asset, which is a critical map entity, under Epics fair use marketplace.
An issue in hand, and best to get it out there now to talk about it, is blueprints is a dangerous feature to let loose with out any form of limitation or control but registered entities like the sentry is required so as a good start getting others involved in the building of an entity and putting it through Epics validation process would be a good thing for everyone.
I could write a book on just what could be done but as an example.
Let say someone wants to make their own game type that they want to share with the rest of the Urban Terror community and make it a fair share (CC0 MIT with is compatible with Epics license) instead of coming to FS to see if we would be willing to put it in the game they could submit the game type to Epic as a free asset under their terms and conditions. This way they do the leg work checking to make sure someone is not putting in hacks or is using copyrighted content and if it passes the gate keeper we can register it as a modular component that is allowed to be used.
Its a win win as Urban Terror receives a fair amount of free advertising in a critical area of map making , which has always been the backbone of the community effort, the asset is available as part of Epic's asset cataloging system and the asset creator maintains full rights as to IP ownership that excludes our rights to do with it as we please.
I'll leave it there, leaving room for more questions, but the possibilities of having Epic involved as part of our project is....well Epic. :D
