Hey!
I've been reading the Lore that FrankieV has made and i really like it (:
And I'm wondering if the Official UrTHD map(s) art style will follow the Lore? I sure hope it will (:
And by following the lore i mean:
* Dark and Filthy ghetto looking cities, filled with homeless, poor people living in shelters and a dictatorship-like regime.
* Propaganda posters everywhere..
* Graffiti filled with hatred against the regime and the Red Dragon marks everywhere.
* The sign of war and ruins all over.
Things like that ^^
This all came to me when i saw how clean Mykonos is and how stange that wibe feels, atleast for me (:
Thanks for reading and i hope i made any sense xD

There are two sides and one is doing better than the other. You described the Red Dragons regions. Their graffiti will be against the U.T.R.T.
The U.T.R.T. are better organized and have repaired some infrastructure in the territory they control. You might find a place that has some electricity generated by wind or solar power that the enclave has managed to keep running. A walled villa might be quite opulent and well maintained while controlled by U.T.R.T. Frankie hasn't finished Mykonos but I could see it being one of these "clean" enclaves.
This way we can have more variety in the maps and create a real difference between the two. The movie Elysium did what we're thinking of except he put the rich people on a orbiting space station.

So, will it be somewhat similar to Brink with these dirty slums environment opposing clean cityscapes?
Not that much I don't think but 3rd party fill your boots. It's not after the apocalypse after all.
doing "stuff" with dead things.

*Bump* I know you guys at FS have a lot to do but I just really hope you indeed will make the maps fit the lore, at least for the full release.
I've only really seen the remakes of old maps that looks like they have the same style as their originals. I really hope you will fix this :)
I'm not saying I don't want the old maps into the game, but I want the whole game to really fit the lore!
Let's take casa for an example. I know Frankie used that map as an test to port over a map from urt 4.2. But please dont make the final map for HD into the same old dusty Casa.
When I see Casa for UrTHD i see: A big city with skyscrapers, a city that is filthy and filled with death. A map that is being played in back alleys, out on the abandoned streets and even inside some houses and hallways.
As long as the Layout is the same or similar then its all good, you could even make some resemblance to the old map.
For example: Have a store on the map that is called "Casa". A fountain and benches can still be around the fountain courtyard, and other remember-able things like that.
Lets make another example of the same layout but with a different setting:
Call of Duty 2, Carentan:
Call of Duty 4, Chinatown:
I hope you guys at Frozensand will do the same for other maps like: Mandolin, Cascade, Sanc & others.
I believe in you guys :)
Let's make UrTHD something truly remarkable! <3

No way, Casa needs to remain a Spanish town. :) I don't want all maps to be the same kind of dark and gloomy...
It would also be futile to aim for a completely coherent thematic look and feel. That is not the strength of a volunteer project. Our strength is diversity and no restrictions, this is what we have to take advantage of to compete with multi million dollar budgets.
There are more subtle ways we can inject lore into the maps, and by all means I'd love to see mappers try and really catch the mood of the lore in new or updated map projects. But we should never limit ourselves in any sort of way or stick to a single style or environment.
As long as we focus on plain old fun over immersion we don't have to be afraid of the AAA studios. But trying to beat them at their own game would be suicide.
