Hello there mates. I have a couple of old demos I would like to play (judging by the file date back from 2011), is there any way to know for sure which UT version
I need and also where could I find older versions. I did try googling, but, obviously, I'm either not very good at it, or such info just isn't that easy to find. I would appreciate it, if someone pointed me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

You can open the demo file with a text editor. the version number it got recorded in is somewhere in the first few "characters". (human readable even).
Once you got that, you can head over to urban-zone and download the game version you need to replay it.

Sorry for my bad spelling - I am still asleep. :)

I used to play Quakelive and there was a demo viewer program for the game.
The program allowed to know precious informations about the demos such as the version of the game, the gametype played during the demo, the map, the length etc... And this feature also worked with Urban Terror demos :) that was pretty useful. I don't remember the exact name of the program but I'm sure you can find it somewhere on the web.

+pro tip:
-4.1 demos have .dm_68 as extension
-4.2.x have .urtdemo extension
(according to my supposable reliable longterm memory)

thats correct. however it should be noted that 4.3 demos also have the .urtdemo ending. However this probably doesnt apply to the old demos the OP is talking about :P
