the reason why you see the outside in the second pic is also why your fps drops...
your pc has to render the whole map in 4.0, in 3.7 it renders only what must be rendered.

Some maps have FPS issues, don't worry...

Since this should be an engine thing, I don't see how it could be wrong only in 4.0. Usually this is map compile related, but that wouldn't explain why these FPS drops supposedly don't appear in 3.7 on the same maps. Maybe it's an unfortunate combination of issues that only appears in 4.0.

if i get this right, this would mean that mappers didn't bother with placing visblocks in maps that were decently visblocked in the old releases , because that's a tedious a ungrateful job, well guess what ? i would be grateful. you can have my pc to recompile the maps on, since it's no good for actually playing them

Omigosh, someone forgot to place visportals? Not that i'm bashing anyone, but this is a top priority procedure before releasing any map.

I think there's quite a few other maps where a few (more) visblocks could seriously boost fps as well if that wikipedia explenation is accurate about their functionality tbh, but I'm no mapper. Visblock the crap out of it and you will have the best fps game on the planet

Turnpike was breaking when I was compiling it. The outer walls of that building are structural and should be vis blocking. The corner of the office that is at the end of your picture was completely disppearing when compiled. I had to remove the hints and even then it disappeared. The map should be vis blocking just from the structural brushes that are in it. I don't know what is different about its construction that caused the corner of the building to disappear. I only did a few last minute changes to it.
If Casa is different from 3.7 as I've been told I have no idea what is going on because it is the same as the 3.7 one. Same hints and structural brushes.
