I will go on servers with more than 14 to test better.

This afternoon servers, smokes, spas, maps gave me no trouble.

Nowadays i got a normal pc (p4 3.00 - ati radeon 9800 - 1giga ram)
and a normal iourt config (1280X1024 high details - no vsync)
changed only the control keys, binds and of course blood=0 now

Nothing more, nothing less.

It was a conclusive solution for me, where I got almost 50% less FPS at times with ioUrbanTerror when com_blood was enabled (reproducable with timedemos). Others had FPS issues before with com_blood and Quake3, so I don't know if it's io related or not. But it's always worth trying, especially if you get FPS issues that randomly toggle on and off at times. Only few seem to be affected by this, but I bet the "dunkelziffer" is rather large.

Sorry, dunkelziffer (literally "dark number") means something like "the amount of X actually happening as opposed to the amount of X that is known about". ;) I wonder if there is an English term for it.

fate swam: com_blood 0 (or using Q3) fixed these freak FPS drops for me completely, I can still reproduce them in my timedemos when I set it back to 1.

Does the nvidia control panel have to always be running in the taskbar for this setting to work?

No. in short. From my experience.

And no, the motherboard/proc/memory doesn't seem to be the issue.

I mean I'm smoking guys with top end rigs as far as that goes out of the water with a lowly 1.7 ghz celron and 768 meg ram. Its a fuggin' EMACHINE for cryin' out loud.

That shouldn't happen.

Something must be hiding under the sheets to cause this.
