Hi, I am trying to set up a server so I can play against my friends down the road...
I have sucessfully set up LAN Servers before and connected however I cant seem to "see" my server that I create when I make it dedicated INTERNET ... my stack trace seems ok (to my uneducated eye) as below

Anyone got any ideas?
The manual was fairly confusing! do you actually need quake 3 or something to have an internet server or is there something that I am doing wrong? eg. ports blocked due to firewall etc...?

thanks for your responses , I take it from this info
master.urbanterror.net resolved to 74.53.204.82:27950
that port 27950 needs to be unblocked as I have waited a few mins and the server has not come up....
however I have checked my firewall settings and taken my firewall down but still no go
then I saw (am using a router) on my router this option
Assigned Games & Applications
Click on 'Unassign' to disable a game or a application or use the last row in the table to assign a game or application to a local network device.
If the game or the application you are looking for does not exist, click here to create it (you will be asked for game or application details).
Choose 'User-defined' in the device list and enter its IP address if the device you are looking for does not appear in the device list.
regarding "its ip address" does that have to be what resoves to master.urbanterror.net ? as I only found quake 3 on my dropdown but that didn't seem to work... (maybe not quake 3 arena?)
thanks in advance..
Rob

do not take down your entire firewall. bad idea.

all routers are different, and i'm not familiar with what you've described above. it sounds like port forwarding. the concept of port forwarding is to route incoming port requests, in this case 27960, to an IP on your LAN, regardless of the WAN IP that is making the request. (meaning that the master.urbanterror.net has nothing to do with this, other than it is another machine making a 27960 request) so you should somehow be able to enter your Q3A server LAN IP (either assigned by your router by DHCP, or assigned by you with DHCP disabled), and you should somehow enter (on the same line, i presume) port 27960. this will send all 27960 requests to your Q3A server. if done correctly, master.urbanterror.net can talk to your server and it should show up in the play online server selection list.

Well I have had another go,
Unfortunately I cannot see myself on the Internet list but I can on the Local Server list!!!
Created a "Game Server Application" on my router assigned it to my pc
entered the following info...
Protocol Port Range Translate To ... Trigger Protocol Trigger Port
Any 27960 - 27960 27960 - 27960 - - -
gonna be trying a few combinations, but if anyone sees "robserver [UDP]" on CTF on ut4_abbey, would appreciate a nudge....
edit .
also tried
Protocol Port Range Translate To ... Trigger Protocol Trigger Port
UDP 27960 - 27960 27960 - 27960 UDP 27960
maybe it is working je ne sais pas, need to get some buddies to take a look....
