Hello,

I have just started playing Urban Terror and whenever I try to join a server, it always says connection interrupted. It always says that when I try to join any server, even if the ping is like 870. I do not have any internet connection problem and I am able to go on internet and other online games. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks, help is much appreciated.

OK first of all, ping is server response time, so lower is better. Meaning stay away from servers with very high ping.
Second in the options menu, under network setting there is something called "network buffer" or something like that, if you use it it will give you CI message on high ping servers so disable it.

Set everything else on maximum and that's about it.
If you're still have high ping on servers that are close to you, check if you have torrents or antivirus running or updating in the background.

Thanks Rayne,

But I have not been able to find anything like network buffer or any network settings, where do I find that?

When you start the game, in the main menu on the right go to setup/system/network/local net buffer, and disable it.

a ping of 870ms doesn't indicate that your Internet is 'fine', infact thats why its there to point out how well its performing.
you ping to a local server should be less than 100ms and to a far away server below 250ms anything above 300ms is not normal.

to test your internet connection run both these tests and report back to us for further advice.

ok......

Rayne, ok I found the network settings but the buffer is already disabled...what should I do?

pwny Nitro, there are none or very little servers in the 300 range, and the lowest ones, around 500, says that it is for low pings users only and takes forever to load...what should I do?

Thanks,

/little possibility

Once i had always high pings, and i figured out why.
When i used a torrent programm and i was uploading a lot, then my ISP company squeezed the bandwith for many hours after i closed the torrent. Then all servers had very high ping and i couldnt connect to any.
This ISP behavior is not general behavior, only some isp's do this bandwith squeeze.

Not sure if you try urbanterror at same time you upload with torrent, or just after it, but it could be a cause of high ping only in the server list.

EDIT:
To solve it, set upload rate very low...

Driller,

Thanks for helping, but first of all, I don't use utorrent or any other torrent clients and second, how do you set the upload speed?

For in case you happen to have utorrent lol: options, preferences, bandwith:
there look at:
1 upload limit
2 global max number of connections
3 max number peers per torrent
4 number of uplaod dlots per torrent

All those have to be low, if you have bad isp.
But when you set upload low, you will get lower download too.
Default settings are working fine, but not if you wanna upload a lot......
You can set upload limit to 10kb/s or so, only if you have to
