OK kids, please take the "update the engine to handle higher detail textures" to a new thread.
just as a final note to clear things up about the textures ( sorry for hijacking the topic in the first place ) i was only talking about adding support for higher detailed textures as an option you could select and maps would use the higher detailed textures instead or the normal ones if not selected.. anyways back on topic
if you send me maps with the bummping i can happily screenshot them in High res with 16x AA etc for people to see in great detail how much work 27 does
The tiles on ricochet dont look too bad compared to other screenshot the specular seemed to plastic-y lol

Seriously, try it yourself. It's SOOO much better when you're moving, and a screenshot can't even come close to how nice it looks. In fact, it's almost like you don't really notice it when it's done right... because your mind actually expects to see it. It's stranger to look at the same map without it now.

yes and no.
you obviously don't add bump and speculars to every texture.
but i am sure 27 would not have coded it to just sort of sit there. hopefully all the maps will have good instances of the new enhancements.
which also means it will not be released for a while.
that's some serious updating.
