Hi Forums,

This post is to clarify the release of the DK GE Map pack which will be released shortly,
at the moment we will not release who has made what map but we will keep you updated.
Some of the maps in this pack are a colaboration betwene both of us and some of the maps are just solo,
we will post who has made what map when we are ready to reveal them.

what he didn't mention is that GE means GoldenEye :-P
we didn't use that name, as to avoid copyright issues.

good luck! this is quite the ambitious project and you guys seemed to have turned it around quite quickly.

It's quite a big project; we planned for a Christmas release date, but it seems like we're getting through this quite quickly while maintaining map quality.

As soon as we think the map is almost ready for release, we release the Release Candidate, and stop development on that map (someone please tell me how to word that sentence better =P). The RCs are completely playable and we have not found any errors in our rigourous testing process. The final versions of these maps will be released in the map pack after every map from the pack is at the RC stage. Differences from the RC and the final version include added surface sounds and any bugs are ironed out. Advice from professional mappers will also be taken if it is given.

As of 25/01/2010, completed RCs include:

As of 25/01/2010, maps in progress include:

When you make a release candidate, could you append rc and its version number to the name, so as to avoid servers having mismatched version of the map due to the names being the same.

Yep sure.

EDIT: PK3s updated, anyone who has downloaded the maps, please redownload the new versions bearing the "rc" mark.

well... had a little run thru of the 3 maps that you have up... you really did stick to the scale and layouts to convert the original maps over. the thing is that the gameplay is totally different and thus i cant see anything apart from ffa/last man stand being played on the maps cos of narrow corridors, small dead end rooms and doors just wide enough for 1 person. some areas you cant even jump cos it's so tight (especially in bunker).

there is some z-fighting going on like with the blue glass in control and doors in temple.

i distinctly remember there used to be a hole in a wall (i'm not talking about the floor/roof in main room) in temple where i used to launch grenades through, but i cant find it in your map.

the maps (especially temple) look so empty without the ammo boxes and guns. maybe you could put pickups there, extra details wouldnt hurt.

BADASS! I can't wait for somebody to host a 'Golden-Eye Maps Only Server'. That is, if these beautiful maps catch on.

Yas, although I agree with what you are saying, we haven't had the chance to play all the maps yet. Let's wait and see, I would imagine Dam would fit Urban Terror well.
