[quote name='"Aarsbuds0r"]Oswald' date=' there is smt else in ET... a serveradmin can set a link to a site or smt... and then you auto-download the map from there. It works realy great. Could set it to urbanbase.net for eg [/quote']
I understand that as you saying if you had a server you would link to urbanbase.net so your players would get maps/files from there.. is that fair to urbanbase.net?

thats where you didnt understand me =] Only gameservers that you want to have linked to your ftp/site would be able to do that I gues. (by password or smt)
For instance, the gameservers.net gameservers would have no problem if the autodownload would use the gameservers.net FTP's.
I dunno exactly how it works, I'll look into it .

ETs autodownload is perfect.
The server administrator can define where the files should be downloaded from, it doesn't have to be the actual game server or even on the same net.
If the client (user) don't want to use this feature he/she can turn it of easily in the options menu.
Or why not have three options (client side).
* Use autodownload
* Show the file list onscreen and ask the user for permission to download
* Do not use autodownload
But I'm pretty sure SID will never use this feature as it's a 1:1 port or whatever they have chosen to call it.

Imo, they should... gets rid of lots of hassle. I run server from my university, and theres no problem if the maps would be downloaded from an univserity FTP via ET... very easy =]
Btw, I dont think they have to do anything to make it work, since it's a standard-fuction of ET... or am I wrong?
