Good Stuff
Hay Rayne you speak the truth.
We as a group is made up of individuals of 100% community members who also love this game yet are put into a position of responsibility with in a core community of 70,000+ to continue to do our best as to what we feel is in the best interest of those who love and play this game and our only interest is in seeing that it continues to be free-to-play for the next fifteen years.
It's sad to say, like all things Internet, there is a small faction who do not see the value of code that only serves the needs of the many over the few who would take everything that has been done and package it for profit and make you pay for the very thing that at the root of our team we do feel belongs to the community as a whole. They stole from all of us and we feel terrible that in some way a trust was violated.
Urban Terror is free to play period and always will be and it's clear to us, and should be to you and everyone else, that if the agenda was to make profit then “stealing†a game with a healthy community like Urban Terror it would be easy enough for a small group of individuals to steal what does not belong to them, repackage the effort and and give the world yet another Pay-To-Win game in which we have been avoiding the past four years of the reboot process.
This is the truth of what we been trying to hide from you all as it's not a fun piece of business to deal with and yes Rayne even when you and Frozen Sand have butted heads, as well as others, it's only been in the best interest of the game with out the intent of personal gain.
So it's out there what do we do?
Nothing.
The code has little value to anyone else but our community period. Even the cheaters don't want anything to do with stolen goods acquired through a criminal act and “their†plans to stick another wedge into our community has yet again failed.
The only bright side of it all is now that it's out there the white hats in our community will have the opportunity to validate the truth that it's even a miracle that this game even continues to run long after it's shelf life has ended and will come to the same conclusion that the best course of action is to dig a hole and bury it so no one else has to suffer from a bad case of the code.
In the end it's probably going to be time to move on but we would rather have not done so at the point of a gun and instead of letting the community keep up with the changes which we do believe they deserve to know.
In the mean time we are glad that you and others like you are around to keep us honest even though you can be a pain in the butt at times. ;-)

But if I'm not wrong, you don't earn any money from this game and you had no plan to, did you ?
So except the anti-cheat code you developed for 4.2, it's not like if it was a big deal, isn't it ? Who is interested in UrT code ? Aimbot developers certainly, but anyway, sooner or later, they bypass it. Another UrT project ? I doubt it, we're not speaking about a major hit (unfortunately).
Again, I'm sorry for you FS guys, but (selfishly) I'm more concerned about UrT 4.1 / 4.2 division.

It would have been better if changes were introduced gradually, however due to the circumstances you are now in the position to focus completely on one single game.
Rather than jumping from developing 4.2 and exploring ways to move on to a whole new engine.
4.2 is playable and stable at this point. Sometimes tabula rasa is the best choice.

you are not even playing this game anymore ...
it seems odd to have a former urt player come to the forum trying to push fs to stop development of 4.2 (a hilarious idea and certainly bad advice)
that said ..
i think it's strange to assume fs' world was torn apart by this incident ... i don't know where you got the impression they might shut down this operation completely ..
as far as i can tell they didn't state anything like this, so i really hope you are dead wrong here...

With the exception of ad revenue, which is used to pay for what would be out of pocket expenses, we do not make a cent as personal gain on this game.

well .. that's just insulting...
but i won't attack you for that ...
you could've pointed out instead what brought you to the assumption fs is shattered and in pieces...
