Tried in Debian/testing and it exit with that error on qt fonts.
Maybe you already know it but in any case, there is a posible solution to the QFont error by embeding the fonts.

The Linux 64bit zip has been updated with the fix to the startup crash. Can you confirm the fix please? Works on Linux Mint 15.
Yes, i can confirm the updated 64bit in Linux/Debian does not crash now.
To check the updater, I first run it with all game already up to date and it detects ok.
Then I tried to delete only one small .pk3 and reruning the updater, and it downloaded the missing file ok.
But, after that, I tried by deleting only the executable (Quake3-UrT.x86_64) and the updater says the game is up to date, but the executable is not downloaded. Even deleting again a small .pk3 the updater only download the .pk3 but not the executable.
One minor problem is that the Changelog window does not have any way to close it, no buttons and the window frame does not have the general closing button in the corner. I though the Changelog button would be a switch, but pressing it again opens another changelog window without closing the previous one. [correction: pressing ESC closes the Changelog, but it is not said in the window...]
The links in the news open the web browser OK.

What is your platform? The Updater detects your platform (32/64bit) and downloads only the needed executable. I suspect you're running it on a 32 bit machine so you should try deleting the .i386 executable.
