Bullet Penetration

To (slightly) revive the thread, I like the idea of ricochet, so there is a chance of getting hurt if you fire directly at hard surfaces. I think that might give the game a more realistic feeling, encouraging you not to be stupid and fire at walls in confined spaces, and it might be useful for some tactics (trying to bounce shrapnel off walls).

Also, I agree that if I hit someone with an SR8, the bullet should go through. It would be hell for bullets from *all* guns to go through everyone, of course, but railing two people in Quake 3 is great fun, and I think it would be nice to be able to do that with the SR8.

the funny thing is, the coding for bullet penetration through objects is already in the game. It has always been in the game, been there from the begining, it was just never activated. I was told Bladekiller disabled it a long time ago, but apparently I was wrong. it was never enabled.

Urban Terror is a mod of the Quake Engine, so take a second and look at all those other games that are forks of the Quake Engine. Most of those games have bullet penetration. Refer to my previous comment.

well the real question here is if bullet penetration fits the gameplay. i for one allways feel cheated when i get ak'd through a wall in cs.
but i'm also a cs noob so...

I think the mapper should decide if you can shoot through something or not.

yeah. but there is no damage reduction for those "penetrations", since something that is no weapclip is just ignored for bullets.
Also nades would simply fly through playerclip brushes as well... so a nade could fly through a wall..... xP
