Did you remodel that entire part to make proper height maps?
No, I don't use any height maps. I remodeled the street to add more detail to it. I replaced the flat plane, that was the street in urt 4.x with a mesh, that consists of all the individual pavement stones. The pavement has about 7300 tris now, which looks quite nice.

Have you thought about makeing the ground more believable, like grass and a walkway in that back alley and more of sidewalk/park area around fountain/laundro?
Drop the street lights and possibly restructure the garage into something else? like a small area that would lead to a subway area in the bottom and street cafe in the middle section with a normal top level/outlook, convert the flat walkway in the garage into stairs?
Yeah, I'll add some weeds, leaves, garbage and rubble to the streets later. As for the garage, it's hard to imagine it being anything else than a parking deck the way the layout is. I've thought about it for a long time and the best I could come up with is to make the garage a motorbike only parking garage because it's clearly too small for cars.

How long is the non sped-up video by the way?
About 55 minutes. The video is almost 10x the actual speed.

Although I'd (maybe) prefer it to be slightly slower and it would be cool if you showed the "more interesting" parts at regular speed (in this case the finished thing for example).
Some people might also be interested in what exactly you are doing at certain times, so short on-screen annotations or a more descriptive description would maybe be nice.
Those are good comments. I'll try to implement them for the next video. Thanks. :)
