Hi all, i've an audio problem playing urban terror under linux.
The first time i had no audio, then i modified file oss in /proc/assound/card0/pcm0p , and the audio seems to run; when i launched quake3 i heard sound, but when i tryed to launch urban terror it crashed
I tryed to play without sound and it worked.
I can't find any error messages on the console
You know how can i solve?

Good to know someone have the same problem here - better chance that we will find a solution. I was just about to post the same thing actually.
After hours spent on google and numerous Linux related sites i know this: the above solution for sound in Q3 is the only one that works, but not for everyone and the music is the thing to blame for some reason (launch the training map in Q3, there's no music and Q3 don't freeze untill you win and the 'podium music' starts). Unfortunately, turning off music doesn't help at all - the only thing that works is removing all music files from pak files, but i'm pretty sure you know what that means on sv_pure and pb servers...
I may sound calm and all, but i'm getting desperate here tbh. You must agree that it's pretty iritating, especially because other q3 based games work like a charm (with music). Someone e-mailed TTimo about this issue but was ignored. id doesn't care anymore.
I'm Running Mandriva 2005 LE and AC97 on-board audio that comes with nForce2 chipset.
Uh... um... HEEELP

He said he heard sound "when he launched quake" not when he actually played it. I said the same thing because in the menu (and on training map) sound is ok and it doesn't crash. I'm studying this problem for a week now and i'm 99.9% sure that this is the same case.

As you can see this problem is pretty common, but Sihion, do tell us if you can play Q3 on any other map than tier 0 map.
